Taste is a wonderful community building event and we appreciate Temescal eateries donating their time and good food so that our local organizations can raise extra money for their causes! We also appreciate our non-profits donating volunteer time to extend the utmost hospitality to our diners!

Temescal Street Cinema   Outdoor Summer Movie Series

Temescal Street Cinema is a free outdoor summer movie series featuring the work of Bay Area film and video artists in the Temescal District of North Oakland. Each week opens with live music and features several creative local food vendors. Since it began in 2008, the goal has been to highlight the work of Bay Area artists, while bringing people together in a dynamic community event that fosters connections in our community.

Temescal Street Cinema's Kickstarter Campaign just launched.

Funding is needed for 2012 season.
Support is needed to bring the series to you next summer!

Learn more here.

Reaching our funding goal will enable payment for designing and printing marketing materials, maintaining social media outlets, obtaining City permits, securing a weekly onsite manager and AV technician as well as offering stipends to our artists and musicians. We are fully committed to bringing another year of exceptional film, video, music and community building to North Oakland and hope you will support us!

The 3rd Annual Gym Class Fitness Turkey Trot, Temescal was a hit!

The rain kept away some would-be trotters; the most dedicated were unfazed. Many repeat trotters, families, smiling faces, even a few Thanksgiving themed costumes. Congratulations to our prize winners who won free boot camps, massages and treats. A big thank you to everyone for keeping this local tradition relaxed, fun and healthy. Thanks to participating  partners - all local Temescal businesses - working hard to build the best community in the East Bay: The Temescal Telegraph Business Improvement District, Kamasajei BioDynamics and Massage, Viridian Creative Services for Marketing, The Mixing Bowl and Mariposa Bakery.

The 9th Annual Temescal Street Fair
Sunday, July 8, 2012

What started in 2004 as a little street fest sponsored by a small group of local merchants has blossomed into one of Oakland's premier cultural events. In 2005, the Telegraph Temescal Business Improvement District (TTBID) took over the fair's sponsorship and, since then, the event's growth has been exponential. This year, there will be four stages (the Main stage, Kid's stage and two Jazz stages) and three additional blocks of vendors, offering even more chances to promote local artists, craftspeople and creative dare-to-doers, representing the area's rich tapestry of creativity and culture.
