On July 14th, The Temescal Telegraph Business Improvement District hosted its annual 40th Street Block Party which included great live music curated by Broken Guitars Oakland, local food, craft beer and wine, and unique artisan vendors. This year, we managed to have TWO music stages, plus FREE facepainting, kids activities and more!
There was great live music by Prima Dona, Destroy Boys, Anistazi, Same Girls, Dead Sound, Arrica Rose, Three o’clock Rock and Leila Sweetleaf. There were also special guests and DJs on our second stage: Paranoid Trooper, DJ Inti, Kevin Preston, La Chica Elastica aka Rubberband Girl, and DJ Crimson. Exclusive food offerings included Homeroom Mac’n’cheese, Kenny’s Heart and Soul food truck, Momolicious food truck, beer by The Hog’s Apothecary, wine by Oakland Yard, SubRosa Coffee drinks and more!
Families brought their kids for face painting, and fun art activities. New this year — we added the Exploratorium’s skate science exhibit, and many brought their boards to try their own tricks on outdoor popup skate ramps! All Free!
