SUMMARY:RachelSimone x NIGHT MOVES
DESCRIPTION:RachelSimone x NIGHT MOVES-\nEventbrite RSVP\n\n\nUNTITLED vol.
2  is excited to present a special interpretation by musician\, essayist
and poet\, RachelSimone in response to the current exhibition\, Night
Moves.\n\nCome view the exhibit and engage in an evening of music and wine
in community with our neighbors\, Oakland Outpost.\n\n Please RSVP at
link\n Doors at 6:00PM\n Performance at 7:00PM\n\n\nNight Moves consider
s how the evening hours transform the ordinary into something quietly subl
ime. Removed from the demands of daylight\, these dreamlike landscapes exp
lore the darkness not as a place of fear or unease\, but as a space of fre
edom where transgression unfolds into something tender\, expansive\, and b
eautiful.\n\nNight emerges through the work as a feeling rather than a con
dition. It offers refuge\, safety\, and the possibility to experience the
primordial. It is a time when rules soften\, identities blur\, and the sup
ernatural comes into focus. \n \n\n\nEditor’s Pick- Art Bae\n\n“Nigh
t Moves\, curated by Alexis Gordon and Kyle Warren Smith\, is sort of a se
t of nested surprises. The gallery\, after a brief stint of itinerant cura
ting\, opened last November in the quiet\, unassuming\, cute Temescal Alle
y in Oakland. Long a site for gallery projects\, it’s nevertheless a del
ight to encounter good art in an unexpected place. The exhibition\, celebr
ating night\, transforms the gallery into an intimate\, dark space. Atop a
scrim of black curtains\, photographic works by seven artists float. Fire
and photo flash illuminate nocturnal scenes… it’s a moody gem of a sh
ow in a promising new space.”\n\n- Aaron Harbour\n\n\nAbout RachelSimone
  Wyley:\n\nRachelSimone Wyley is a poet-essayist-songwriter-vocalist. She
understands art to be the solution to racial inequity\, not simply its mir
ror and megaphone. She leverages dialogue\, deliberate pauses\, and a diff
erentiated relationship with time to manufacture the spaciousness needed f
or authentic exchange.\n\nBy leveraging music as a facilitation tool\, Rac
helSimone activates the qualities of creativity\, empathy\, and vulnerabil
ity in others - however latent - to connect individuals in spontaneous com
munity and then\, to guide them through a process of critical unlearning a
nd radical re-education. She deliberately disrupts the power dynamic that
exists between artist (the "entertainer") and audience (the "entertained")
and requires all present to offer their own emotional collateral as a cri
tical part of the creation process.
