Important Safety Information

If you witness a crime, or if someone is in danger, or something is happening in real time, you should call 9-1-1 to report it. It is important to officially report and document (non-emergency) crime through the City portal

Once a crime is reported and documented our Community Resource Officer (CRO) Gichki can help ensure investigative work is being done. Again, the crime must be documented and reported before our CRO can get involved.

Officers provide updates  at our Promo/Safety meetings and share what they knows about crime in our district. If this is important to you, please join us at our monthly  Promo/Safety meeting.

(510) 777-3333 or MACRO@oaklandca.gov

The purpose of MACRO is to meet the needs of the community with a compassionate care first response model grounded in empathy, service, and community.

MACRO’s goal is to reduce responses by emergency services (Fire & Police), resulting in increased access to community-based services and resources for impacted individuals and families, and most especially for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC).

MACRO teams will respond to requests for service for homelessness, some behavioral or mental health concerns, noise complaints and people being drunk (and nonviolent) in public.
