This Thursday, September 21 Come see Oakland-focused shorts Que Siga La Cumbia (Keep the Cumbia Going) about the Queer Qumbia at La Estrellita, and Fresh Frozen profiling local business Catered to You. Stick around for the feature film, HITS, a comedy about Municipal worker Dave and how his life changes completely when videos of his rants about potholes at City Hall go viral on YouTube. You’ll be sure to enjoy the September 21 Temescal Street Flicks with this fictional offbeat comedy with lots of similarities to Oakland, from our City Council meetings to our potholes!

Then join us for Closing Night of Temescal Street Flicks 2017 on Thursday, September 28th for three thought provoking and insightful short films very relevant to our current times: Sin Pais (Without Country) about a family fractured by deportation; Beyond Recognition, profiling a Native woman’s fight to occupy a sacred site, and the journey to establish the first women-led urban Indigenous land trust, and the Women’s March documentary covering the hundreds of thousands of women who marched on Washington, DC, across the country, and around the world on January 21, 2017. Attendees are encouraged to wear their “pink pussy hats”! Plus enjoy a Short Q&A with filmmakers & a few film participants after the films. Please join us for this engaging & thoughtful discussion.
